What is a retail tour?

A retail tour is a guided visit to the most innovative stores in Milan, designed for people who work in retail. It is not a shopping trip. Participants explore in small groups, each led by a MiRT researcher: they watch how stores welcome customers, tell their brand’s story and sell, talk to the staff and take notes in their ethnographer’s notebook. Then, in a workshop, they turn what they have seen into ideas for their own company.

The method is Research Based Learning, and every route is built on the MiRT retail trend observatory, across food, living and luxury. Milano Retail Tour was created by Creattiva, a Milan marketing and communication agency, and has been taking managers on tour since 2012.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a tour last?

Half a day or a full day. A typical day starts with Brief&Breakfast and the ethnographer’s kit, continues with the store visits and lunch, and ends with a workshop where participants share what they observed.

Who is it for?

Managers and professionals in retail, marketing, sales and HR, retailers and brands. No special knowledge is needed: just an open mind and comfortable shoes.

Is the tour available in English?

Yes. We run tours in English for international teams, such as the one for UGG’s Retail Marketing Managers from Milan and London.

How much does it cost?

The price depends on the format, the length and the number of participants. Write to us or call us and we will send you a tailored quote.

Can a company book a private tour?

Yes. Many of our tours are dedicated to a single company and built around its goals, for groups from 8–10 people to more than 60, split into teams each led by a MiRT researcher.
