Customers ask AI where to buy

In Italy, between August 2025 and May 2026, product discovery through traditional search fell by 15%; through AI assistants and new channels it grew by 38% (Salesforce).

34% of Italians have already used an AI assistant to shop; among Gen Z it is 52% (Adyen).

Example. An optician with an accurate category, opening hours and services on their Google profile gets mentioned when someone asks for an “optician open on Saturday near me”; the one with an empty profile does not.

The first move: fix your Google profile (category, December opening hours, services and brands) and every month ask ChatGPT and Gemini where to buy what you sell.

It’s for you if

  • You run a specialist store, with one or more locations.
  • You want to understand AI without chasing every new thing.
  • You are looking for concrete moves you can make with the team you have.

It’s not for you if

  • You are looking for a list of software to buy.
  • You want generic predictions about the “future of retail”.
  • You need industry data in the form of paid market reports.

Who’s behind it

Milano Retail Tour has been observing retail in the field since 2012, together with the team at Creattiva, a Milan agency founded in 2004. The Radar is edited by Andrea Bertagnolio and Gianluca Falduto, who founded both.

We have just one rule: retail first, then AI. Every figure in the Radar has a source you can open, and every move was designed for a real store, not for a multinational.

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free?

Yes. We only ask for your name, email and what kind of store you run, to understand who reads the Radar. We don’t sign you up to anything without your consent.

Do I need to be using AI already?

No. Half of the moves are not about AI but about the basics that make it useful: your Google profile, catalogue, prices, the owner’s replies.

Does it work for a chain too?

Yes. The examples are single stores, but the moves also work for chains and brands with their own stores.

What do you do with my data?

We use it to send you the Radar and, only if you ask, the monthly newsletter. You can ask us to delete it at any time at info@milanoretailtour.com.
